Due Recognition
In recognizing effort, our goal should not be about giving everyone an award;
Rather to award only those who deserve it.
When the Search is Endless
You have been waiting for quite too long.
You have searched painstakingly.
You have looked far and wide;
That you have missed the signs,
Ignored the very thing you've been waiting for.
What Defines You
Your profession cannot conceal your true form;
Nor can it define who you really are.
Your actions can.
There was this man who hurriedly clung to one of the bars attached to the entrance of the jeepney I was riding. The driver motioned him to get inside as there was still space for him. He then murmured that he may not fit the available space because no one moved to give him the space. But the driver insisted so he got in. The man opposite to me was unaware of what was going on because he was sound asleep. To my surprise, he shoved the man's left knee so hard while saying in a shouting manner, "Isdog ui!" (Scoot over).
He didn't stop yapping. He really had a lot to say. He even said "Nagkaminos ka nako? Dili tawn ko basta-basta lang, propesyonal ko. Niretire na lang jud ko sa akong trabaho. Engineer ko."...wait, that's quite a lenghthy translation.... Let me encapsulate it. (I am not a nobody. I am a retired professional Engineer.)... I was like, hello nobody's asking.
Going back to the man beside the annoying blabbermouth. He was really shocked not to mention confused as to why there is a man beside him so enraged. All he could say was, "Naunsa ka, natug raman ko diri?" (What's going on, man, I'm sleeping here.) Before he could say more the annoying blabbermouth went on to his seemingly endless rounds of conceit.
Up until now, I still ask myself what's with him. What's his problem? Is he really that desperate for attention? Has no one ever recognized him as an engineer before that he really needs everyone to know who he was. Can he just ask politely? It's a public ride after all. Worse, he said he is a professional. He is educated? Really? Educated?

LOSING
The sweet and bountiful is irresistible.
He who gives more receives even more.
It is when he cesase to extend a hand;
Give less and less
That he loses a thousandfolds.
Sticking around is always a choice. The relationships made surrounding such choice strengthen it. Most of us stick to relationships that are supportive, generous and loyal.
When the relationship becomes one-sided and sour, people tend to go separate ways heading to directions that may promote better conditions.

Growing Like a Tree
Just because you see me on the same spot each year.
Doesn't mean I have not grown an inch.
Remember that no tree has ver walked the earth.
Yet it has reached certain heights and has borne fruits.
We tend to judge people because of where they are and what their positions are. We judge them because they have not passed our basis of growth or success. I mean, seriously, who made you the "success meter"?
People must be judged (if there need be) according to how well they play their roles and not just because of their position. We have roles to play and the question should be, "How well have we played each one of them?".
Sad Songs
I was lonely because I thought I was.
I was sad because I loved sad songs.
I feel better now that I stopped singing.
We have the tendency to wallow in our emotions. When we are sad, we do things that could make us even sadder. We watch melodramatic shows; listen to devastating sad songs and worse, we think of even more desolating ways to pull ourselves deeper into the pits of solitude. We aggravate the already bothersome sadness flowing in our system.
This should not go on forever. We should know when to turn off that sad music so that we can appreciate the beauty of even more delightful songs in the playlist. If we can make ourselves sadder by the day, we can also make ourselves smile after the rain or even during the rain.

NOTHING BUT A PRETTY FACE
If you think you are nothing but a pretty face, think again.
No one should never underestimate a pretty face. In as much as one should not feel so little because she thinks she is not smart enough nor good enough and the only thing she has is that beautiful face.
If a beautiful face is what you possess then you have a lot to do in this world. You have a lot to inspire; to make smile; to uplift; to listen to..... and the list goes on. You can never be JUST a pretty face.

Hurting Is an Emotion
Getting hurt is not dictated. It is an emotion.
When we get hurt, we get hurt and we should feel hurt. I mean hello? Why else should we cover up what we truly feel? We are humans after all (cliche but true) and we innately get hurt. No one should question why you get hurt. No one should say, "You don't have the right to get hurt because there was never you and him or you and her in the first place". That is just rubbish!
Everyone gets hurt, it's just that we have different ways of coping. Some deny it and pretend to be alright. Others admit the hurt and strive to be fine. The first one suppressed the emotion and the other one accepted it. Which one do you think is really ok between them? Which one are you?
Unrequited effort
Unrequited effort seethes into the ducts of disappointment.
When ample effort and enthusiasm is sprinkled into your job or to some sweet nothings you prepare for your boss or a friend respectively but you don't get appreciated sincerely or even given the chance to present what you worked hard for, it is but normal to get really disappointed.
Those tunnels of downers may lead to laxity, indifference, and even depression. But wait, before you go down that road, think! Think really hard. Is he or she even worth it? If you are referring to but one person who can never see you, maybe you should stop seeking for that approval? Maybe you should start doing things because you love doing them and not because you want to please whoever that is.
If it is about your friend, that is something you can work out and talk about. It is your friend after all.

Never Stop Walking
The path may be narrow, steep and rocky;
It doesn't mean you should stop walking.
It only means brace yourself to take on bigger and heavier steps.
We meet a lot of challenges everyday. Sometimes we find ourselves on a nook giving up because we thought we have had it. Well, if crying can help why not but always think that right after the storm you are going through there will always be good days. It is not night all the time.
If you are given the sign of difficult times, do not cower and retreat, go on fighting. Prepare yourself for the worse.
We will never be able to move forward if we stop everytime there are obstacles along the way. Be steadfast and find ways to get past that narrow, steep and rocky path.
The Shroud
When darkness becomes a shroud, strive to be the light.
When the worse gets to worst, the least we can do is not add fuel to what has been so darkened. Let us instead strive to be better versions of ourselves in the darkest of times. By so doing, we may at least condition ourselves that there may not be anything in the world we could do to change what is but we could change our persepective and see the good the dark times may have brought.
The choice is always ours. We could be one with the darkness or be the light that counters it.
At the Crossroads
When you find yourself at the crossroads, be smart;
Take the right turn.
It is pretty much difficult to make decisions especially when we are surrounded with plausible choices. Be smart. Weigh your decisions. Examine yourself. What is it that you really need? Where do you really want to go? What do you want to become? How do you want to achieve them?
